Page edited by masini bogdan Community SharePoint Development Tool future I have created a separate page, called The Ultimate SharePoint Development Tool , to try and get everyone to collaborate on what they would like to see out of a community tool based on pros and cons of the tools listed below. Microsoft Tools VSeWSS 1.2 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7bf65b28-06e2-4e87-9bad-086e32185e68&displaylang=en Pros Cons Solution Generator reverse engineers Lists to List Templates No ability to customise Build actions, use of bat files for setup scripts (rather than utilising MSBuild) and auto refreshes everytime deploy executed (can’t modify) Adds ElementFile and ElementManifest file entries to Feature Manifest automatically [...]

Why do you need to backup the individual sites? If you need to copy all the content but none of the configuration you can just move the content databases and that will do the job. Anything you dont want to migrate with the content just delete and be done with it, will save you hours [...]

New external post Removing metadata from SharePoint 2010 search results from the blog SharePoint Dev Wiki RSS Feed in the group SharePoint 2010 Development 1 day, 12 hours ago · View
Page added by Yaroslav Pentsarskyy Recently I have been involved in a solution where I needed to customize my Search Core Results webpart. In short; I had to remove Created By and replace it with a piece of metadata called alias. Seems like a trivial task – all you need to do is to adjust XSL of the *Search Core Results *and remove or replace Author field, but there is a catch. First, open your Search Core Results XSL: I recomment you copy and paste the contents of the XSL editor into notepad (at least) and find the following section: <!– Main body template. Sets the Results view (Relevance or date) [...]

New external post Dynamically Switching UI Versions in SharePoint 2010 from the blog SharePoint Dev Wiki RSS Feed in the group SharePoint 2010 Development 1 day, 20 hours ago · View
Page edited by Chris Walsh When you have performed a clean installation of SharePoint 2010 the Visual Upgrade features are disabled by default. Now this is fine for users starting from scratch who don’t have a V3 masterpage already customised. To easily switch the UI back to V3 and use your existing masterpages you just need to run the following code. SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate() { using (SPSite spSite = new SPSite(url)) { using (SPWeb spWeb = spSite.OpenWeb()) { //save the current allowunsafeupdates values bool bSiteAllowUnsafeUpdates = spSite.AllowUnsafeUpdates; bool bWebAllowUnsafeUpdates = spWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates; //allow unsafe updates on site and web spSite.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true; spWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true; //if the [...]
